Spin Dryer: efficiency in a small package
Unlike traditional dryers, the spin dryer is compact and very efficient. The spin dryer can accomplish in a matter of 2-3 minutes what a traditional (or tumble) dryer takes 20-30. But, is a spin dryer alone all you need? Unfortunately, no. A spin dryer is made to cut drying time down considerably, not replace your dryer altogether. The spin dryer removes the majority of the water out, but does not completely dry your clothes. A traditional dryer or clothes line will finish the job. So why consider adding a spin dryer to your laundry room. Well, consider this:
Save Time
- Save time with a spin dryer - it may add another step in your laundry process, but by putting your wet clothes from the washer to the spin dryer, running it for 2-3 minutes, then moving them to the conventional dryer - you will save hours! Just one load will shave off 20-30 min in the traditional dryer. So, if you average 4 loads of laundry, you just saved yourself 80-120 minutes of waiting on the dryer (well, add in the 5 min per load you spent moving clothes to/from the spinner=20min). So you're looking at saving 60-100 min of time you would be waiting on the dryer.
Save Energy
- So, the 60-100 min you just shaved off your overall laundry time (obviously these are estimated times, which may drastically vary), that was time your dryer would have been running. Think of the energy savings, especially if you put the laundry from the spin dryer onto a clothes line, then you are eliminating your dryer all together!
Save Money
- If your having a hard time justifying the additional cost and space needed to add a spin dryer, just consider the savings you will see when you run your dryer an hour less a week, now add that up over a year... it's simple to see that the spin dryer is a smart addition to any laundry room.
